Dr. Shu-Fang “Ann” Shih receives grant from Child Health Research Institute
Shu-Fang “Ann" Shih, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Health Administration, the Bachelor of Science in Health Services and the PhD in Health Related Sciences programs, has been awarded a collaborative grant funded by the Child Health Research Institute for their research project titled "Mapping Primary Care and Behavioral Health Resources and Social Determinants of Health in School Communities: A Geospatial and Multi-Level Analysis."

Congratulations to Dr. Miranda Yelvington, who graduated in December from the PhD in Health Sciences program. Dr. Yelvington's dissertation research, chaired by Dr. Stacey Reynolds, resulted in three peer-reviewed publications.


Dr. Stacey Reynolds assumes role as Director of College’s Ph.D. and Dual-Degree Programs
Stacey Reynolds, PhD, OTR/L, a tenured professor in the VCU Department of Occupational Therapy, was selected as director of the interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Health Related Sciences program at the VCU College of Health Professions.


Dr. Kelle Deboth Foust, PhD in Health Related Sciences alum, awarded the AOTF IRG award
The American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) awards Intervention Research Grants (IRG) as part of its mission to advance the science of occupational therapy to support people's full participation in meaningful life activities. An AOTF IRG award entitled Building Resilience and Social-Emotional Skills in Under-Resourced Preschoolers with History of Trauma was awarded to Dr. Kelle DeBoth Foust, an Associate Professor at Cleveland State University and a College of Health Professions PhD in Health Related Sciences alum.

In June, we welcomed our new 2023 Cohort who will be embarking on this PhD journey together. Students came to Richmond from all over the US including Texas, North Carolina, Delaware, and Washington, DC. They come to us with backgrounds in dental hygiene, nursing, gerontology, health administration, chaplaincy, and anesthesia.

Shu-Fang “Ann” Shih, Ph.D., assistant professor in Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Health Administration in the College of Health Professions, has received the Breakthroughs Fund Award – one of three internal funds supported by the One VCU Research Strategic Priorities Plan.


Arnethea Sutton, Ph.D. in health related sciences alum, selected for National Cancer Institute Early Investigator Advancement Program
Sutton, a VCU alum, is an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
